This drawing changed my path

One thing that I’ve learned in my years in Academia is that I strongly dislike printmaking in most all of it’s forms. I tried my damnedest to enjoy it, but I could never get into the swing of all the technical mumbo jumbo that accompanied the processes. I tried my hand at a screen printing company recently but my heart is not in it. For me, the company was meant to be a stepping stone to get me to a position where I could eventually focus on the creation of a graphic novel and the selling of prints from the novel, but as fate may have it, that was not meant to be. Instead my world has been catapulted forward to the book rather than prolonging the inevitable. I’m happier for it, its as though a weight has been lifted.

I spent 15 minutes drawing this………15 minutes and I enjoyed every second of it. I forgot how drawing made me feel, and I am damned good at it, unlike printmaking which is so labor intensive and drudgingly. It’s not my thing, but I applaud those who rock at it.

This drawing changed my path, or rather uncovered my path. I was lost but now, I have an idea of where I'm meant to go.
